An unforgettable journey through South Africa - the splendor of 'The Garden Route'.
When you think of South Africa, do you think mostly of sun, sea and beach? Agreed - but from now on also think
lots of greenery, vast vistas among the mountains and many different vineyards.
Although maybe those vineyards were also in the back of your mind somewhere?
The name "Garden Route" doesn't come out of the blue, either. This area in the south
of the country is now known for its lush forests and abundant flora &
fauna. It is a truly paradise for nature lovers who like to have a
find breathtaking views.
Having taken only a few steps into South Africa, we took our seats on
several motorcycles with sidecars to Cape Town to explore. What a way to take these
seven-day trip to begin!
Leaving Cape Town, we stopped at several wine farms which each time is very
were beautifully situated AND where the South African wines were at their very best.
After several tastings and with the sun on our faces, we drove on to Montagu.
A cozy village where we learned about the "braaibrooike" at an evening barbecue -.
definitely recommended. Fan of good food and both to be found for sophisticated as well as local
kitchen? Then as a "foodie," you've come to the right place in this country.
Throughout the rest of the week, we continue our route from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape
To end in the Kariega Game Reserve where elephants came so close that we almost
had to duck to avoid getting a trunk in our face.
Along the way, we visited several hotels, went swimming at dawn in a
small river, we got the chance to bungee jump off the famous Bloukrans bridge,
we enjoyed a gin & olive oil tasting, spotting sharks and seals during a
hike and ... so much more.
In addition to all the experiences I had there, it was remarkable how welcoming we were everywhere
were received. For me, this is a destination where, in addition to the beauty of the
nature also the warmth and friendliness of the locals take away.
The Garden Route has many aspects to offer. The views, nature, the possibility of
an adrenaline rush, sporting activities, peace and serenity, hospitality, culinary
delights, fine wines ... - well worth a visit for those who like to be on the road and on
its route various discoveries wants to do.
